28 August 2008 — Board of Trustees Meeting “Highlights”

Filed under: Administrators, Board of Trustees, Bond Projects — ccsfaspres @ 5:23 am

Jack Wilde, Robin Lewis (from SF Unified School District), Laurie Scholari, and Paul Johnson spoke about the Disabled Student High School Transition program.

Ed Murray was honored by the Board for his distinguished service to City College.

Trustee Marks asked John Bilmont for the current number of classified vacancies at the college. Bilmont declined to add up the numbers on the spot and promised to send the information to the Board by email tomorrow. Trustee Marks noted that Bilmont and our colleagues from SEIU might present different numbers when asked this question.

Resolution F3: Trustee Ramos questioned the temporary absence of Mark Robinson and moved that Dean Bell be named “Temporary Vice Chancellor of Student Development” during the time Bell would assume some additional day-to-day responsibilities while Robinson is away on a fellowship for nine out of ten working days from September through December. A spirited discussion ensued, during which the Board passed F3, voted to reconsider F3, voted to table F3, voted to take F3 off the table, and then again passed F3.

The Chancellor distributed a notice to the Board that as of June 2008, 97% of the 2001 bond money has been spent and 36.76% of the 2005 bond funds. Included was a draft document detailing the bond expenditures, broken out by vendor and by project. I have a copy of these documents in my office if you’re interested.

Finally, the trustees adjourned the meeting in honor of Austin White, Dell Martin, and Jerry Levinson.
